Why Am I Running for Sheriff?
As your sheriff, my pledge is to uphold these values with every action I take, ensuring that every resident feels seen, heard, and respected. In a community as closely knit as ours, honesty isn't just a requirement; it's the bond that ties us together, driving us toward a safer, more inclusive future for every member of Camden County.
In an initiative to reallocate funds for deputy sheriffs within the Horseshoe Bend Zone of the county, a strategic plan is underway. Through careful assessment and cooperation with relevant entities, we will redistribute resources to ensure our deputies and citizens have the necessary support. By emphasizing transparency and accountability, we seek to enhance community trust and strengthen law enforcement services in this region and throughout the county.
Helping citizens with addictions and mental health conditions
As a Court Bailiff, I witness the challenges of addiction and mental health issues on a daily basis. Collaborating closely with private agencies, my goal is to facilitate the establishment of a privately owned and operated in-patient addiction treatment facility right here in our county. Such a center would also provide essential support for mental health wellness.
Currently, our county lacks a facility for involuntary mental health commitments. This places a significant burden on taxpayers, as the Sheriff's Office expends valuable resources transporting patients across the state to treatment facilities. Subsequently, taxpayers incur additional expenses for gas and time off work when retrieving their family members from distant facilities once their treatment is complete.
